Athesinus Consort

Athesinus Consort Berlin was founded by Klaus-Martin Bresgott in 1992 as a result of his on-going devotion to classical music. From soloist to double quartet formation, the Ensemble primarily performs works from the late renaissance and baroque periods a-cappella or with instrumental accompaniment . In addition they perform modern works which have led to regular premiere performances. The members who are experienced concert singers who work with RIAS-Chamber Choir, Collegium Vocale Gent, SWR Vokalensemble and Balthasar-Neumann-Choir (among others) work together in different arrangements depending on the selected work.
Together with the pantomime Klaus Franz and the sound virtuoso Michael Metzler, Athesinus Consort undertook diverse excursions following the trail of time through its fluid and frozen form. Following a successful performance on the musical theater stage with “Paulus. Das ängstliche Harren der Kreatur” (Music: Thomas Jennefelt | Libretto: Christian Lehnert | Direction: Annette Kuß), the Athesinus Consort begins 2012/2013 with “Hidden Meanings of Forgotten Verses“ taken from the wondrous core of German song tradition and the protestant chorales in unusual arrangements.
Athesinus Consort Berlin performs in a variety of concerts. They are regular guests in Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg, and Lower Saxony. In addition they have invitations from all over Germany. Concerts abroad have led them to England, France, Austria as well as several times to Italy, Denmark, and Switzerland.

Fabian Sackis & Olympic Orchestra

Just as a great idea can lead to a program, an exceptional performance can lead to the creation of a band. That is the story of the Olympic Orchestra, much more than a jazz ensemble or an average big band. Olympic Orchestra brings together the sounds of a string quartet, a brass section (including alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet and trombone), a classic jazz combo with drums, bass, guitar and keyboard, and an excellent vocal quartet. The musicians are young and innovative as an ensemble, and open to a wide variety of musical styles.
Both the music and the musicians create an unforgettable concert experience.
This is in large part thanks to the work of composer Fabian Sackis, who has pursued his own artistic path and developed a personal signature in his compositions. His lyrics take listeners on a fantastic journey – from a flight to Mars, to the freedom of lift-off, to open-mindedness when face-to-face with others – so get on board, and leave reality behind.

Olympic Orchestra

Julia Toaspern

Julia Toaspern is a remarkably sensitive songwriter. In just a few verses, she captures the emotions experienced by her generation – from joy to melancholy, from innermost thoughts to a simple love for animals, she takes the listener along with her to experience these tender moments.
Julia is a talented musician who plays an array of musical instruments including guitar, violin, banjo, and Irish flute.
She is accompanied by her band, whose lineup varies between her debut album „Penny“ and „One Step at a Time“, but in both cases enriched the production by incorporating their own ideas and musicianship.
Julia currently lives in Canada and tours worldwide together with Tony McManus, one of today’s most celebrated guitarists.

Tony McManus

Tony McManus is the leading Celtic guitarist worldwide and has been listed as one of the 50 transcendental guitarists of all time by Guitar Player Magazine. While Tony is known as a soloist, his frequent collaborations with diverse musicians have always been a significant part of his work. He has released numerous albums as soloist, together with musical partners and as guitarist of many divers productions.
Julia Toaspern is a multi-talented musician from Berlin who combines classical training on violin and voice with a wide interest in genres such as jazz, baroque and traditional music. She has released two albums of original songs, „Penny“ and „One Step at a Time“ by Felicitas Records.
Tony and Julia’s guitar treatment of traditional music is unique, and each supports the other in exploring the harmonic possibilities of these old and not-so-old tunes. Each of the pair both flatpick and fingerpick at the highest level but always at the service of the tune rather than a display of technique. Julia’s violin can effortlessly morph into a fiddle as she weaves from Italian madrigal to Scottish reel.
Tony and Julia’s arrangements are rooted in deep musicality and heartfelt expression. Having met over a conversation in Berlin about J S Bach, together they play and sing music that speaks to them and hopefully through them to a wider audience.
The album was recorded live during a German tour by the duo in the early part of 2019. The recordings were made by Rainer Ahrens of Felicitas Records, Berlin, who also mixed and mastered – and produced a final master which can only be described as brilliant in sound quality. The musicianship and the final master make this a rather special live album.
